Le incredibili vicissitudini verificatesi in Islanda nelle ultime settimane difficilmente sono passate inosservate a chiunque abbia seguito le vicende del Paese e della sua economia.  Tutte le maggiori banche islandesi sono state nazionalizzate e la situazione economica è radicalmente mutata.  I cambiamenti sono avvenuti in fretta ed inaspettatamente, e forse si potrebbe dire che essi abbiano dimostrato ancora una volta che la realtà è molto spesso più imprevedibile di un romanzo.
